明鏡止水

「明鏡止水」とは、
曇りのない鏡と、静かに澄んだ水のように、
心が静かで澄み切った状態のこと。

このアルコールインクの作品から感じたのは、
澄んだ美しさと、揺るがない強さ。

そして「鏡」という言葉には、
自分自身と向き合う、という意味もあるような気がして、
「明鏡止水」という四字熟語がピタリとはまりました。

文字の間には少し余白を多めに取り、
静けさと、心のゆとりを表現しています。

静かに、澄んだ心で、
自分自身と対話する時間を持つ。

そんな時間を大切にしたいと、
最近、特に感じています😌

“Meikyō Shisui” (明鏡止水) describes a state of mind that is calm and clear, like a spotless mirror and still, pure water.

This piece made me feel a sense of clear beauty and quiet strength.

The word “mirror” also made me think of looking within and reflecting on ourselves, which is why “Meikyō Shisui” felt like the perfect phrase for this artwork.

I left extra space between the characters to express stillness and a sense of openness.

To have quiet moments to look within, with a calm and clear mind.

Lately, I’ve come to feel that these moments are especially important. 😌
